Operation tackles drugs offences in Boscombe Officers from the East Cliff,Springbourne and Boscombe West Neighbourhood Safer Team seized more than 100 drugs wraps and several vehicles during an operation aimed at tackling drug misuse in Boscombe ? one of the team?s current priorities.

Dedicated project officer to lead ?Boscombe Regeneration? Changes are afoot and local people will start to notice improvements to Boscombe town centre over the next year as the Council welcomes a dedicated officer appointed to focus on helping to transform the area. Leading on the Boscombe Regeneration project, Sally Coulson has been appointed as Project Officer to ensure that the Council maintains a clear focus on Boscombe to promote the area economically and socially and to improve both community safety and the local environment.
Sally will be working with local residents, businesses and partners to roll out a number of initiatives in Boscombe that will aim to enhance the area starting with major improvements to Roumelia Lane.

Bonfire in Kings Park Sunday 14 February 201010:00 - 13:00 Woods next to cycle track on Harewood Ave Having  chopped down lots of sallow to allow the sunlight to reach the floor, we now have lots of wood to burn so we're having a bonfire. Bring potatoes, sweet potatoes etc wrapped in foil to cook for lunch, and fillings you like and a flask of hot drink. There will also be some more sawing to be done so don't worry that we will be sitting around!! It's great fun, free and better than going to the gym.

Older people Free transportTwo activity sessions a week for older people (in a twelve week course) are available at the Littledown Centre. One session is studio based, the other an active water class. The sessions cost the participant £3.00 per time with free transport available if required. Surf Reef Local surfers would like the reef to be ?tweaked? so that it has a better wave for stand up surfers. The report into the effectiveness of the reef is due in February  and the Wessex surf club hope to influence the report so the work is done before the final payment is made.

"Sorted Surf Shop" Surf Contest & Festival 20th & 21st March 8.30 am - 3.30pm  & Evening Party (Sat) The event will consist of Surfing & Bodyboarding contests on the Reef & Beach at Boscombe There will also be a host of demonstration equipment for you to "have a go" including, Stand Up Paddleboards, Kayaks, Surfboards & Power Kiting as well as demonstrations of various watersport activities. We are pleased to welcome the Freedom Programme to the centre, a course for women who have experienced domestic abuse, run by the Butterfly Foundation.  We also have the successful Ripple Project starting again, which is for Mums experiencing post natal depression.   We are also delighted that Ann?s Weekly Workshops (part of the Listening Ear Counselling Service) will be running at the centre too, these are weekly sessions that cover a range of topics from positive parenting to understanding feelings.

For physical well being, we have Helen Ryder returning with her Aerobics classes (suitable for all abilities) and our Baby Fit classes are still continuing as well.

Our popular Early Explorers session has been renamed and is now ?Let?s Explore? and is at a slightly different time too.  The ever popular baby massage course starts again in January as does the equally well subscribed Rhyme Time/Baby Signing group.

Our Let?s Play sessions have the theme of ?Around the World? this term so there will be lots of exciting cultural based adventures for the children and parents who come along and see us on Tuesdays.

Donations wanted for ?Christmas Past? exhibition Old photos, Christmas decorations, toys, magazines and festive recipes from the past  The display of historical Christmas items will go on show at Bournemouth Central Library on 17, 18 and 21 December, 10am ? 2.30pm Alex Dean on 01202 458133.

Freedom Programme, run by the Butterfly Foundation at Boscombe Childrens Centre The programme is designed to help women empower themselves from the effects of domestic abuse and to pass the skills and knowledge along to their children.   We are able to provide a crèche for children under 5 for local Mums wishing to attend this course, so please get in touch with us if you have any families you are working with whom would benefit from attending.
