Operation tackles drugs offences in Boscombe

Officers from the East Cliff,Springbourne and Boscombe West Neighbourhood Safer Team seized more than 100 drugs wraps and several vehicles during an operation aimed at tackling drug misuse in Boscombe – one of the team’s current priorities.

Under Operation Salmon officers worked with the Dorset Police Traffic Department and made use of ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) to identify vehicles linked to drugs, as well as those without valid insurance.

The team also used passive drugs dogs, on loan from Hampshire Constabulary, to search premises used by drug dealers and used stop and search powers to search drug users.

Sergeant Guy Nicholas said: “I hope this action will send the message to drug dealers that they are not welcome in Boscombe.”
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will be running Operation Salmon again in the near future.
Operation Salmon is part of ongoing action to tackle drug misuse and drug dealing in the Boscombe area. Residents are encouraged to contact the team if they have any concerns about drug misuse in the area.
